Computers offer lots of possibilities to take notes. Some options include creating text documents, using online services or software programs. CintaNotes belongs to the latter group. The program is a portable note taking software for the Windows operating system that comes with a lot of clever ideas which might convince some users to give it a try.
Several options are available to take notes in the software. If the window of CintaNotes is active then pressing the INS key will create a new note. Text can be copied from other applications with the global shortcut Ctrl F12 and it is also possible to paste information from the clipboard into the software either with a right-click and the selection of paste or by pressing the shortcut CTRL V if the window of the note taking application is active.
All notes that are taken are by default untagged. CintaNotes uses tags to group notes so that it is easier to keep an overview. Tags are by default displayed in a left sidebar while the notes of the selected tab are displayed in the larger main area of the application.

Each note can be edited with a double-click. This opens an editor where the title and text of the note as well as the tags and link can be edited. Content that is pasted from websites automatically contains the link and the title of the website as well as the selected text.

The changes become immediately visible in the main window of the program. A search form is provided at the top which can be used to perform a global or filtered search.
The options of the program contain several interesting features. It is for instance possible to define a hotkey to spawn a new note window globally or enable silent clipping which will not bring the note taking window to the front as long as the option is active.
Backups of the notes are performed automatically by the program and an import and export option makes it possible to synchronize notes on multiple computer systems.
CintaNotes is a resource friendly application that uses less than 8 Megabytes of computer memory while running. It is compatible with most Microsoft operating systems including Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. The note taking software can be downloaded from the developer’s website where it is available as a portable version and an installer.

Directing a movie about fighter pilots and having Namco’s Project Aces team make the game of it is sort of like making an action flick and getting Infinity Ward on board, or a fantasy adventure movie with Square Enix handling the console translation. No developer on Earth has Namco’s pedigree when it comes to sky-high arcade combat, with eight Ace Combat games under their belt, but it’s the first time they’ve lent their expertise to a despicable movie license.
The movie is an animated flick from the director of Ghost in the Shell about a team of never-aging, genetically engineered parallel universe pilots engaged in a war staged for entertainment by two corporations in an otherwise peaceful world. Yep.
Cutting straight through that nonsense, the plot becomes a wafer-thin premise upon which to bring Ace Combat to the Wii, for that’s exactly what Namco have done. Aside from a few new tricks and tweaks, and minus the ultra-modern planes seen in the recent Ace Combat titles on other consoles, Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces is as Ace Combat as they come. It feels like an AC game, has disgustingly dense menus like an AC game, lifts the same mission structure from recent AC games and even borrows a bunch of sound effects from the most recent console Ace Combat. There are now well over 100,000 apps available for iPhone and iPod touch, and, surprisingly, many of the best are free.
The following list showcases our ten favourites, and includes iPhone applications for social networking, travel, news, photography, productivity and more.
If your favourites aren’t covered, tell us all about them in the comments.
1. Facebook
Once an ugly duckling, but now – as of version 3 – a social-network-aware swan, Facebook is a triumph. The revised grid-based ‘home screens’ provide speedy access to regularly visited sections (news feed, notifications, and so on) and pages, and the experience is such that it in many ways beats the browser version.

Dell Studio 1557 is the specific appellation of the, until now, current version of the fancy multimedia specialist from Dell. On offer is/was a notebook with a Pentium Dual-Core, Core 2 Duo or respectively the high-performance Core i7 chips from Intel. A certain systematic application of performance was chosen to your whim or respectively as far as your pennies went. The entry-level configuration was around 479 Euro (plus delivery), equipped with an Intel T4300 CPU (2.1 GHz) and integrated Intel GMA 4500M HD graphics chip.
A pre-sample of the new Studio 1558 underlies the following review, equipped with a combination of the brand-new Intel Core i5 520M CPU and the just-as-new CPU-integrated Intel GMA HD graphics solution. Therefore the laptop appears in the entry-level range of the series and shouldn’t cost much more than its predecessor of a comparable configuration. As seen in the Core i7 architecture, you can count on an enormous performance leap in the Core i5 dual-core CPUs, and a whole range of new features are carried over, which only recently catapulted the i7 chips onto the tops of the CPU charts.

A few years before Bill Gates retired from Microsoft, he was convinced that tablet or pen-based computers would be the next computing paradigm. If you count the iPhone as a tablet computer, then he was right.
But he wasn’t talking about the iPhone. He was talking about the 9-inch (and larger) real pen-based tablet machine that was kind of like a Wacom tablet with a screen on it.
To date these things have been clunkers, plain and simple. And none of their fancy features have actually worked that well. The supposed handwriting recognition has barely worked and navigation has been less tough to use. That’s not to say that tablets weren’t good for things like filling out forms or sketching. But they’ve always been heavy, clumsy, and easily breakable.
But now Apple is going to try and change the image by rolling out something new. Unfortunately Apple took an early and premature shot at this market with the ill-fated Newton. It was a Waterloo moment for the company and it could happen again unless a lot of things about this new shot are different. Read the rest of this entry »
